(it's very, very weird to be openly peter parker and spiderman. in a way, it's freeing in ways he can't begin to explain. he doesn't have to lie, for one - he's nor skilled or happy when he has to do it. it's also strange that he can just do this, show up by a window and it's fine. it's alright. in a way, it's expected.
he can see, however, that matt is sweaty, as if he had been fighting, although there's not a single soul in the room... nor is there a lot of stuff. maybe he needs to do something about this, too.
the mask comes off, peter shaking his head to put his hair in some place to no avail, before sitting by the windowsill.)
I'm fine! I was swinging by, so I thought I'd come. You were training? I can sparr with you if you want.
[ Matt smirks. He can tell Peter's relaxed in a way he wasn't the last time he saw him. That's always good to hear, so to speak. On Matt's end, it's nice to have people who know about his powers -- he doesn't have to pretend, he can just look off to Peter's right and crack the window open further, giving him room to step in. ]
Yeah. Thought about going to the gym, but I wasn't feeling it. [ He shrugs. ] You're super strong though, right? You might beat me.
[ Note: he does not think Peter will beat him. He's smiling as he says that. You are about to discover that Matt's actually a little competitive when he gets to be himself. ]
(it's fine to comr in, although he's still a little apologetic as he comes inside, finding a place to sit. this time, he hasn't really brought anything, it was a spur of the momrnt decision, but one he's happy about.)
Yeah, I got super strength, but I am not trained or anything. You totally seem like you are!
[ Hey, Peter's always welcome at his place. And Matt, despite keeping the place terribly bear, keeps things tidy. He doesn't want to trip on anything if he happens to wake up with a headache or get overwhelmed by his own "home." ]
Alright. Could be fun.
[ He is smiling. Very wide. He loves fighting. Well, and without his glasses it's easier to read his face. He's a terrible liar once you can see his eyes. ]
(he likes matt so much. there's so many reasons, one being that matt is the only person in this joint that knows what he's talking about for most part. second, he shares the same type of spot that peter does at home - FREAKING DAREDEVIL!!! and third, there's just something very familiar about him. perhaps he's missing tony, and that's what he gets. he's always had a little trouble with authority, wanting to prove himself capable, eager to be there and show what he's worth to someone he finds worth showing it to.)
That'd be cool. I go with my senses, so that's how I can fight -- I think they're a little like yours, but not as good.
[ Matt will make a proper vigilante out of you yet, Peter. Sure, they've got very different vibes, but Matt can't help but admire the fact that Peter's the same kind of crazy as he is -- the kind of person who feels the need to help others even when things are hard. With great power, as they might say. ]
You've got senses too, huh?
[ Matt's never seen Spider-Man fight, of course, but it doesn't surprise him. If Peter really isn't trained, then the only way he'd make it this far is by having an advantage over most people. ]
Let's try it, then. [ Matt nods his head towards the empty space in his apartment. He'd clearly moved his furniture aside to give himself room, so they have a bit of space, though not much. ] I won't pull any punches, think you can take it?
[ He's no Stick, but if Peter has super strength, Matt doubts he can hurt him. (And he'll still hold back, at least until he gets a sense for how much Peter can take.) ]
(wait until he takes a trip back home and being spiderman, the one who helps people, is all that he lives for. but, right now, the idea of going hand to hand with daredevil? one of the most awesome things that happened to him yet.)
Uh, yeah. Vision, sight, hearing, dialed to 11... And I have like, a 6th sense. Like a tingle that tells me that danger's coming, and then I react to it, it's hard to explain. Instead of your 'world on fire', it's more like, 'holy shit, there's danger over there and I'm dealing with it instantaneously'.
(he's sure gwen would be more articulate, but it is what it is, what can he say. with a little jump, he gets ready-- but hey, listen, he gotta brag a LITTLE bit, because!!! he's cool too, okay, he can take it.)
Hey, I fought half the Avengers! Including Cap, the Winter Soldier, and Falcon-- won from these two, I'm fine!
[ Matt chuckles. Peter's such a kid. Even he can tell his stance is terrible, but Matt knows better than to underestimate him because of that. ]
Ah. Well. I've never fought an Avenger before.
[ He's gotta tease him a little bit, when he's saying that. But his talk of senses gives Matt pause. ]
If you've got heightened senses, then that means weaknesses too. Make sure you keep that in mind, I know for me if I wear a cotton-blend, it's like getting dressed in sandpaper.
[ And just to test those reflexes, Matt throws a punch aimed squarely at Peter's face. It's wide and obvious, more to see how he reacts than anything else. See if he can catch him off-guard. ]
(well, he is about to fight one now!! although he managed to hold the title for a day at most. not his fault.
that said, he doesn't have time to answer the comment, to remind matt that his senses are dialed to 11, not to 50000 like the other man's. later on, he's going to realize that, probably, if matt really wanted to, he definitely could keep tabs on peter - meaning he needs an extra quiet suit if he wants to sneak out without matt knowing.
the spider-senses are a cheat, because even when he wasn't expecting the punch, his body automatically bends backwards to dodge it.)
Wow! Rude?!
(but he gets to take an arm in that open stance to try and flip matt over his shoulder, if he can.)
[ Matt laughs, thinking back on all the times Stick attacked him out of nowhere -- usually when he was already tired or even in his sleep. Ah, that sucked. You have no idea how good you've got it, Peter. ]
Enemies won't wait 'til you're ready to strike.
[ But now Matt has a sense for the fact that Peter will react regardless of whether he's ready or not. His reflexes are fast, really fast. That'll be an interesting challenge. ]
Come on, man, I was joking, just joking, we're friends, why would I hit you?
(he's halfway turned by the time he hits the web shooter, not exactly aimed at matt, but at his foot. it's only a distraction so he can throw a punch to the man's side. there's measured strength in it, careful.)
[ A web shooter isn't a sound Matt is used to, but he's aware enough to keep track of Peter's movements, even if the webbing still catches his foot. He quickly weaves out of the way of Peter's punch, but the webbing makes him go a little wide. ]
Huh. That's new.
[ He tries to shake his foot to get it unstuck, testing the strength of the webbing like Peter didn't just try and punch him. It's nbd. ]
You might be able to get me, with these. I've never heard it before.
(hey, partly worked, he's pretty happy about that, even though that does mean that matt is out of a foot... but there's just a moment where he waits before he gets to kneel so he can tend to the web. like he's trying to see if there's a spark of superstrength in there to be acknowledged.)
Means you just gotta visit Queens more, Mr. Murdock, this is my main means of transportation.
[ Don't worry, Peter, it's far harder to catch him off-guard with that a second time. He might not have super strength, but he is strong, so if the webbing can break under enough strength, he should be able to break it. And if not, well. Then he's going to have to make sure he doesn't get hit by this stuff again. ]
Oh, yeah? Must be strong if it can handle carrying a person.
[ Hmm, maybe that's why he's having some trouble breaking it. It's sticky too, Peter's got some neat gadgets. ]
Queens is a little too far north for me. I'm a Manhattan guy, through and through.
I made it so it has good textile strength but it's still flexible - Captain America couldn't really break them, so I kinda was wondering if you had some sort of superstrength hidden in there, I wanted to check, sorry, my b.
(which is why he took a little moment to tend to it, but here, he's free, all good!
also did he say he fucking webbed captain america
yep)
I actually go to Midtown, so I'm actually in your area like a lot.
[ Oh, joy. Matt knows who this is because of course he does. He has superpowers.
Did Murdock really have to come in through the window, though? ]
Really?
[ Matt steps over to the window. He isn't wearing his glasses, obviously. His apartment has neat stacks of paper -- all in braille, and he'd been studying. So he is very much not in the mood for window visitors. Especially not this one. ]
You'll break my window if I don't let you in, I'm guessing.
but while he wasn't expecting it, his arm moves to block the kick, and right after, the smack. it's a reflex, so he isn't exactly thinking, maybe don't block two hits with the same muscle and with the bone, because it hurts like a b--
oof, he has to move it a little as a way to get the blood circulating!!)
Hey, that's cheating!
(he can cheat, too! a jump, he's on the ceiling, another, he's taking the impulse for a a kick.)
Just testing out how much it takes for this sense of yours to kick in.
[ Matt laughs. He'd be able to tell if he's hurting Peter, so he knows he can go a little harder on him than he would if he didn't have his superpowers, too. It's a lot. Matt knows so much all the time.
Which is why he's able to dodge Peter's kick, even if he's bouncing off the walls in ways that don't make sense. Matt doesn't even need to face Peter, he just moves like he's got eyes on the back of his head -- because he's sensing in every direction, all the time. ]
I can still sense you on the ceiling, you know. I don't even have to crane my neck.
(he can't complain about it, he was the one who started with the unwarranted testing of murdock's abilities, so he lands with a laugh, because that checks, actually? a punch, though, attempting to go right for matt's face.)
Come on, you didn't even think 'what the hell' for, like a second? Wow, they really do make lawyers differently!
[ They are the same person, after all. But Matt knows he'd do it, because it's what Matt would do too. So he opens the window for Murdock. If he was a vampire, Matt would foolishly invite him in. ]
Make yourself at home. It's both our name on the lease.
[ Inasmuch as there is a lease, anyway. Matt waves a hand, frustration simmering beneath the surface. He isn't scared of Murdock, of course, but he does find the man endlessly irritating.
It's because he's strong. Strong people always make Matt hyper-aware, and. Well. ]
[ Oh! A joke about how they're the same person. That's so stupid. He loves it. He laughs immediately and then comes in, brushing off his suit once he's standing inside. ]
That's ableist. You think I can't enjoy your house because I'm blind?
[ He walks over and takes Matt's arm. Show him around (threatening). ]
